At about 4 p.m., officers responded to the crash involving a motorcycle and a pickup truck. The collision occurred near the Litehouse Foods distribution center, about 3 miles off of state Route 9.

The 2003 Kawasaki motorcycle was being operated by a 24-year-old man with a 17-year-old passenger traveling north on Old Highway 91 when he lost control of the bike. The motorcycle then collided with a maroon Dodge truck, Hurricane Police Officer Ken Thompson told St. George News.

“The motorcycle lost control coming around a corner, hit the truck and it ejected the operator of the motorcycle. He was declared dead at the scene,” Thompson said.

Police have not yet released the identity of the motorcyclist.

The 17-year-old passenger was awake and talking while he was being transported to the hospital. The truck had minimal damage following the crash.

The Hurricane City Police Department closed down the road in both directions after the crash occurred.
